Try not to be alone. Two people, together, reduce the risk of violence by over 80%. Having three people present reduces violence by up to 95%. This is a HUGE statistical strategy! Use it when traveling to foreign countries, in areas you are unfamiliar with or at night. This is a good principle to use all the time!

The combination of alcohol and a drug doubles the risk of violence. If it is clear someone is drunk or high – be aware.

Perception is everything! You are constantly sending out information by virtue of your body language, tone of voice, posture and language. If an assailant's perception is that you are professional and well-trained, they are less likely to resort to violence than if their perception is that you pose no obstacle to reach their goal.
