Residential Security

Residential Security Assessment

Your home should be a place where you feel safe and secure. There are many possible motives for someone to break into your residence: burglary, robbery, sexual assault & home invasion are just a few.

Have you been victimized at your home or know someone who has? Studies consistently indicate the #1 deterrent to a home burglary or invasion is an residential security & alarm system.

However, the average police response time in the United States is 6 minutes and 50 seconds. The average violent encounter is less than 2 minutes. You do the math. If you have ever been frightened, much less in a life-threatening situation, you know every second you have to wait for help feels like a minute in slow motion.

For many people, the seemingly reasonable answer is to purchase a handgun. There are situations in which you may not have time to retrieve your handgun, or handgun use may be inappropriate.

Typically, when someone is victimized they spend minimal time with a police officer who takes the initial report. Depending on the crime, there may be a follow-up visit from a detective. After that, victims are often left on their own. Most victims, regardless of the crime, will experience a sense of loss, deep personal violation, fear and post traumatic symptoms.

Assault Prevention can help. Our Residential Assessment is specifically designed to reduce the stress and anxiety that come in the aftermath of victimization, and to prepare you with life-saving techniques for the lag-time between police notification and police arrival.

We take assessing the safety of your living circumstances well beyond recommending an alarm. Using proprietary methods, we gather relevant information and conduct a hands-on assessment of your residence and your living habits. We then recommend any adjustments you should consider to reduce the probability of forced entry into your residence. Finally, we will teach you several emergency responses in the event an unwanted person does gain entry.

We help restore confidence by recommending and demonstrating practical protection principles that have been tested in real life. The Assault Prevention staff member who meets with you has had significant experience with victims of violence and personal property crimes.

Assault Prevention will meet privately with you at your residence to conduct a personalized review of your home and its vulnerabilities. If you have been victimized, we will review the circumstances of the event. We then make recommendations for procedures that will enhance personal safety. Those recommendations may include additional technology, procedures, or physical self defense techniques; in which you will receive instruction until you are fully proficient to your satisfaction. These emergency response techniques are specific to the victim’s experience or concerns.

Additionally, we will provide materials and support to assist the victim in understanding and addressing lingering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder effects.

This resource is a good proactive investment even if you have not been victimized.
