A good self-defense program should focus on motor skills the average person can remember, and quickly perform in unexpected situations. There should be an emphasis on gross motor skills, which are available to most people when under high stress. Anyone interested in their own personal safety should be prepared to respond to unexpected violence with strategies and techniques that are simple yet very effective should they find themselves in a situation that they cannot immediately escape.

While many of our consultants have practiced, participated in, and provided instruction in the martial arts for many years, we have found martial arts training does not adequately prepare people for violent situations because it is taught and practiced in tightly controlled environments. Real-life violence has no controls. It erupts quickly in a variety of settings and circumstances with many variables. Training, then, should take real-life confrontations into consideration in order for it to be practical. Our training differs from martial arts because we teach skills we know are effective in real-life confrontations.

Course Description

Our Personal Protection Course goes directly to the core issues of self defense.

 This course focuses on:

• The legal aspects and liability of self defense.
• The dynamics and psychology of violence.
• Self defense principles & techniques.

Emergency physical techniques are taught in this course. These techniques are not size, gender, or athletic ability specific, so anyone can benefit from this course. The Personal Protection Course will teach you basic, simple gross motor skills principles based on extensive research into real-life confrontations, psychology, and human physiology. We recognize that physical confrontations may not be predictable, so we do not offer a typical self-defense course or martial arts training. Instead, we empower you to react in a variety of settings. Personal safety has more to do with awareness and how you process information than it does learning physical techniques. This course has great depth in that it not only presents simple physical techniques, but provides considerable research and statistical information about how you assess potential violent behavior and manage it. Upon completion of this course you will be able to effectively protect yourself against an armed or unarmed adversary using physical control methods including weaponless defense, weapon management, defensive releases, chemical agents, ground fighting, impact weapons and control instruments.

Assault Prevention Note: the standard fee for participation in a classroom setting for the Personal Protection Course is $985.00. The reason we designed this hybrid online learning experience was to make it available outside of a classroom setting. Attendees consistently advised us that the course was so valuable, they wanted it available for friends and family in other parts of the country.

Why is this course $395.00? We recognize that there are a great number of martial arts, shooting and self defense videos on the market. These are generally available for less than $100.00. Their primary focus is physical techniques only. Very few, if any of them, are going to provide the legal foundation for self defense. None of them are going to provide you with an 83-page curriculum, grounded in solid research, which goes far beyond physical techniques. They will not provide real-life video examples of the principles covered. And finally, it is unlikely they will provide 2-years of free educational support in the form of email contact to answer any questions you might have regarding the course.
